Neglected

February 16, 2009

Sorry for neglecting the blog. I just haven’t had much to say that Flickr or Ravelry can’t handle.

I’m about to order some yarn for the Ribbon Trim sweater. Yes, I’m really going to break sock ranks and knit something bigger than a bread box. I just cannot for the life of me pick a color. I ordered two ribbons I liked and will see which one pops the best with the color samples I have. Since I’m ordering it thru my wholesale supplier, the sweater is going to run less than $70. Big big yay.

I did a smallish shop update. There are some semi-solids; some are in the new seacell/merino base yarn. I’ve marked down some of the rovings too.

Clover

I’ve been dyeing stuff that is bright and happy like spring. I’m so sick of winter blah. I’ve also been using a new 80/20 merino nylon base. Oh baby does this stuff dye up beautifully. It’s super soft and has a bit looser twist than the 75/25 blend I’ve been using. I’m able to get beautiful pale colors since the dye is taking up very evenly. I dyed the most perfect yarn on the this new base. It caused a yarngasam so extreme I had to keep the skeins.

Utopia

My attempts at duplication have been a major FAIL. I cannot get the teal. I used the same color and it didn’t even look close. WTF? I’ll keep trying. I may be willing to part with one of them. Perhaps a contest?

I haven’t been doing too much spinning. I had to force myself to do a bit here and there so I don’t forget how. My fiber stash is also growing out of control. I need to spin.

I finished some Yarn Pirate socks, in Booty club yarn no less. I love the garter rib. It may be one of my favorite patterns up next to Roza’s Socks.
Neptune Socks

I started another Yarn Pirate pair in my That 70s Yarn. I’m doing some YP stash busting here people! I’ve been really good about not buying yarn. I did cave when Yarn Zombie posted this gorgeous ray of sunshine. I’m temporarily obsessed with the pink yellow combo and it had to be mine. She still has the mate for sale if you are obsessed too.

I’m kicking butt on a good size Sweet Sheep order. There’s some rovings dyed with a new technique Jacki and I came up with. I love them all. There is also the new 80/20 base yarn. I’m dyeing up a bunch of colors and revisiting some old colorways. I was sick of those colorways for a while but now I miss them. Dyeing them after a long hiatus is like seeing an old friend with that familiar smile. The goal is to have the order ready to ship in early March when Michelle gets back from vacation.

Have you tried shaking up the jar of teal and letting it settle and then trying to dye it again? Sometimes the non-primary colors separate and since such a small amount is used when you dye pastels, that probably accounts for the varying colors. Stupid crazy mixed-up dye. :P
