Explosions of Color

July 5, 2008

I hope all my American pals had a good time celebrating our country’s birthday! Yarn was dyed all day and even some knitting and spinning got done at Lovesticks HQ. There are 6 more skeins of Colortopia listed as of this morning. They really do use up a lot of leftover dyes. Now I have some more baby cakes to test knit.

But, there are way too many WIPs on the needles and it is killing me. I am one of those people who likes to start something and finish it before moving on to the next project. In all, there are 4 WIP socks and one really abandoned non-sock gift knit.

I have a neglected test knit sock club colorway pair of socks that I can finally show everyone since we decided on a different color.

Abandoned Colorway

It looks so nice all caked up and reminds me of Cherry Blossoms. But knit up, it got all pool-y. I decided to knit them for mom since she likes it so much. The first sock is stopped about 3/4 of the way done the heel flap. I’m still working on the Colortopia test knit and the seacell socks.

There was mega spinning going on in the last two days. I couldn’t wait for Tour de Fleece to officially start. I plyed up this Hopi color inspired yarn.

I’m still doing the happy dance! It came out so well. The Columbia/Dorset blend was pretty easy to spin. I dyed the roving too. I think it’s just under 4oz of sport weight.

Then I worked on 4oz of BFL in Creme de Menthe that I dyed. Does anyone else hate that 24 hour let the twist set rule? I’m ready to ply damn it!

I missed my blog-iversary. It’s a year old. Yay! I’m thinking I need a sale to celebrate! Leave me a comment on your etsy purchase that says “blog on” and I’ll give you 10% off your purchase (not including shipping of course). The sale only applies to yarn and roving. You have until midnight July 8th EST to get the deal. Don’t forget to leave the comment as there will be no do overs. I’ll refund you the 10% after you have paid (it’s the easiest way to do it).

Love, love, love the dyed up yarn! You have a great eye for color. Where did you get that rule of yours? I can’t say I have ever done that, but if it works for you, that’s cool>
