In a Funk

June 12, 2008

Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while. I’ve been in this pseudo-crabby, pensive, don’t feel like doing anything kind of mood. I think it’s the high heat wave we’ve been having in Ohio. Everyone seems a bit testy.

I’ve been doing more spinning than knitting. My Kate socks are still on the needles. I really want to finish them this week so I can move on with something else. I managed to spin some Creatively Dyed merino and a very lovely skein of Spunky Eclectic in Lollipop.

I underplyed the Creative skein.

Attempt 3

I’m ran it back thru the wheel today and it looks like a completely different skein. The Spunky came out much better in an attempt not to repeat my underplying mistake.

Colorspun Joy

The colors are summer fun. The South African fine was tricky to spin; every time I got the hang of it, I’d stop spinning for the day. The next time I’d pick it up, I’d have to refigure it all out again. I’m not sure if it was the staple length or what. I just couldn’t get it to draft the way I wanted it.

Spunky Spun

Overall, I’m pretty happy with it. On Tuesday, I finished up some BFL from Sakina Needles. It’s drying right now. That one came out pretty good too. I over-plyed a few spots but it will be ok. I LOVE spinning the BFL. It is so easy to draft and fast to spin.

I managed to hurt my ankle somehow and I strongly suspect it is from treadling. But I also recall an incident with our sidewalk and my ungraceful foot. However I did it, it hurts to go up stairs (but not down) and certain movements seem to aggravate it. After I replying that Creative skein, I’m taking a break to see if it helps. I’m only spinning maybe an hour a day, if that during the week.

I signed up for Tour de Fleece and offered up a 4oz chunk of roving as a sponsor prize. I know I won’t spin everyday but it should be fun. So far, I’m not doing so hot with my Summer of Socks participation. :(

Oh noes! Spinning injury! Your handspun is looking awesome; you’ll have to post the re-plied Creative skein. Thanks for the reminder about le Tour de Fleece, I need to sign up for it, too!

Funks happen. Just as long as you take time out for yourself and just be happy, it’s all that matters. :) Good luck with the Tour de Fleece. :) Can’t wait to read about your experience.
