No Cherry on Top
February 7, 2008
This week has sucked in general. I haven’t been feeling well and work just blows.
Another one of my raverly trades arrived today – Yarn Pirate’s Blackwater. The blue is more periwinkle than it looks in the photos. Completely beauteous and tranquil.
There is much joy to be found in kettle dyeing. It’s a great way for me to use up bad skeins. There is nothing like dumping a bunch of left over dyes in a pot to see what develops. I’m really pleased with the latest.
I need to stop coming up with new colorways. Inspiration always hits me in the oddest places – some guy’s tie at the store last week or a photo on Flickr. I focus so much on new stuff that I don’t want to redye old favorites. Anyway, there may be a smallish shop update this weekend; we’ll see how much reskeinning I get done.
I started a pair of modified Thuja’s in Yarntini’s Cherry Cordial. I’m not whooped about the pooling but don’t have the heart to frog. The base yarn is nice. I’ve done this pattern before early on in my sock knitting adventures with really crappy yarn. The pattern is a bit mind numbing but the finished project is A++. I just wanted to knit something valentine-y. That and Project Spectrum is back in full force.
And now – Drum roll please – my top 10 blogs that bring me joy (in no particular order)
2. Amuse weekly & Amuse news – They inspire me to do non-yarny things.
3. Yarn Zombie & This Land
4. Yarn Pirate
5. Loopy Ewe
6. Sweet Sheep
9. Numenna (the fab Elemm!)
10. Wollmeise (I cannot read much of it but the photos are reason enough to visit) Apparently I was distracted by the pretty pictures and didn’t take the time to notice the translations underneath. Ooops [smacks head] Thanks for the tip Elemm!

The Yarn Pirate yarn is stunning, and so is the kettle dyed leftover skein. Anything with layers and layers of color always seems like it turns out gorgeous.

I’ve got a skein of Blackwater from a trade, too! It’s soooo gorgeous. I need to find a project for it because it’s been sitting in my stash for a long while now.
And thanks for naming me.
BTW, why can’t you read Wollmeise blog? All entries are translated into English already (by me :-p – yes, there are some parts that are actually un-translatable but I gave them my best)…so go back and immerse yourself in it!

Oh, I like the Yarn Pirate, what gorgeous colors.
And the sock looks like perfection for Valentine’s Day.
