Muddy Waters in my Village

January 31, 2008

I don’t have a whole lot going on as far as knitting. I’m still clacking away at my Wollmeise sock. At least I’m on the gusset. My knitting mojo is off this week. Plus work has super sucked these last couple of days. Ugh. At least my doctor came through in my war against air borne allergens.

I did manage to get a ray of sunshine today courtesy of a swap with Yarndoc on Ravelry. I had a skein of Vesper sock yarn in Muddy Waters that I was willing to part with. Self striping doesn’t have the same appeal when you dye tons of it. Guess what I got?

Village

Yarn Pirate in Village. Subtle and stunning, this colorway is only available at Village Yarn and Tea in the Seattle area. I am on the other side of the country and doubt I could’ve obtained this yarn any other way. The colors remind me of a well worn vintage quilt.

The trade feature on Ravelry is extremely dangerous. I have found a bunch of stuff this week alone that I worked out trades for or purchased. Then I’m tempted today by the Three Irish Girls shop opening back up. I want to send them some of the BFL DK yarn I have so they can dye up some of their colorways for me. O’Neal, Nora, Kelly, Tierney, Alice – too many yummy colorways!

I took tomorrow off to get some car repairs done. One doesn’t need brakes when they have sock yarn right? A major storm is supposed to hit tonight, full of ice and snow. Oh joy! Since I will be stuck in the house hopefully I will be inspired to dye yarn or finish my stormy socks.
